IRON FURY (2) improving gelding who resumed for the Doyle yard after doing all his racing in Victoria last campaign. Bumped into the handy Zocketman, when chasing hard to line to secure second over 5 ¾f at Beaumont (Newcastle). Further improved with the key jockey change and expected to go one better. SHOTGUN BELLA (5) progressive mare kept fresh for this and also having her first start for the Nathan Doyle stable. Returned good closing splits when a narrow second over 6f at Tamworth in a decent rating C2. Looked good when second in a 5f trial at Newcastle (Beaumont). Shapes as the main danger. ETOILE FILANTE (1) resumed for the Kris Lees yard with a plugging eighth over 4 ½f at Newcastle from the wide barrier. Fitter now and set to improve over this trip. MAGNOLIA JEWEL (7) gets the right set-up for this with Newman's claim from the inside gate. Was a month between runs when a tiring third over 5f at Muswellbrook. Each way.
