Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy hockey on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Please note that betting lines and numberFire's projections may change throughout the day after this article is published.

NHL Prop Bets

Filip Forsberg Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-130)

The Nashville Predators have a solid matchup against the Los Angeles Kings, who are in a total tailspin right now.

Since the start of January, the Kings have a record of 2-12, and have fallen off a cliff after a strong start to the season. This is the perfect time for the Preds to catch them, as the Kings are on the last game of a road trip, and the final game before the All-Star break.

Over the last two weeks, the Predators come in with 62.19 Total Shot Attempts Created per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 11th best in the NHL.

This is led largely by Filip Forsberg, who has the sixth-most (197) shots on goal in the league this season. That's an average of 3.9 per game, which he has bumped up to 4.3 per game over his last 10 games.

That is because Forsberg has hit five shots on goal in six of his last 10 games, a great sign to see him surging before the break. With that said, I'll also add Forsberg To Record 5+ Shots on Goal (+172), too.

Tim Stützle To Record 1+ Assists (+104)

A 3.18 implied goal total for the Ottawa Senators versus the Detroit Red Wings should put them in a position to score.

Seeing a lot of goals between these two teams won't be anything new, as nine of the last 10 meetings have ended with six goals or more. It's a whole lot of offense and not a lot of defense when these two teams face each other.

Over the last two weeks, the Senators are scoring 2.98 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the third-best in the league.

During that same time, the Red Wings are allowing just 1.98 Goals in the same situations, which is actually the 11th fewest in the NHL. However, if we look at their Expected Goals Allowed (xGA), they are up at 2.59, which is the eighth-worst in the league.

Their defense is due for some major negative regression and a hot offense such as the Senators can get that ball rolling.

This leads me to Tim Stutzle, who is the center on the second forward line and the first power-play unit, and has amassed 36 assists and 11 goals -- or 76% of his point production is from assists.

Given their offense and his role, Stutzle is primed to pick up an assist, in what should be a high-scoring game.
