Verdict

Siding with the class in the form of LIGHT INFANTRY MAN (1) who is way back in grade. His past two starts have been at G1 level in the Cox Plate and Champions Stakes, both won by Via Sistina and finishing fifth each time. He's untested at 1 ½m but we fancy he's looking for it now having appreciated stamina tests over 1 ¼m in the past. As a G1 WFA winner, he's awfully well placed here. ALALCANCE (13) and SHE'S A HUSTLER (14) come through the G2 Matriarch Stakes. Alalcance was first up there and did quite well to find the line for third in tough conditions, albeit she was four lengths off She's A Hustler who ran second as favourite. Alalcance will relish 1 ½m but it shouldn't be an issue for either. KOVALICA (2) can be forgiven for the Champions Stakes flop, his Sydney form prior was solid without winning. Giving some hope to ALENQUER (4) at big odds, another through the Champions Stakes. He'll appreciate 1 ½m now on better ground.
