Verdict

UK import ASSAILANT (3) didn't quite hit his straps in the first Aussie prep but resumed last start in an encouraging manner, digging deep under pressure to be beaten just a long neck over 1 ³/16m at Canterbury. Should relish this trip and a first win under Waterhouse/Bott looks imminent. LUNAR LOVER (7) relished the step up in distance last time out when he won with authority over today's journey at Kembla. Placed at Sandown under 60.5kgs last prep in his only other 1 ½m run. True stayer who will be there at the finish again. FORBIDDEN RIFF (1) won three on the trot at the provincials before a game second over this distance at Rosehill most recently. Can win again coming back to midweek grade this afternoon. OAKFIELD HAWK (4) will be ready to find form after three runs back and getting out to his preferred trip. SUBARCTIC (6) gets some weight relief and is in the right race to turn some recent plain form around.
