Verdict

SAMARELLE (8) is a promising filly back for a second campaign. Concluded the last prep on a high, closing well to finish second in the Group 3 Reginald Allen over 7f at Randwick. Won a recent trial so she looks forward enough. Another key ingredient is the engagement of J Mac who rides close to a winner in three for the O'Shea/Charlton yard. KILBRANNAN (7) is a progressive colt who has not raced since storming home to win over 7f at Kembla eight weeks ago. Meets a smarter field this time but suspect Portelli has decent races in his sights, so he needs to stand up. Veteran sprinter FANGELA (5) had his chance but couldn't quicken with them recently over 6 ¼f at Canterbury. Has an outstanding record at this distance - do not underestimate. CLEAR PROOF (4) reacted positively to the application of blinkers last start, getting home narrowly over 6 ¼f at the Kenso. Harder this time but not out of contention. SNITZEL DANCER (10) is in the mix first-up from a short break.
