Competitive. SOUTHAVEN (6) drew better and found more like his best when beaten narrowly over this distance at Rockhampton when he led. Draws awkwardly but has early speed gate speed and Butler is aboard today. Tough to beat holding the form. VALUBIOUS (13) found a place here in an Open 3 over 7f following the Maiden win at the track. Has a handy 4lbs claim and placed her only start over this journey. Races forward and will give herself every chance. BETTER BREAKOUT (2) stepped up to this trip in stronger and was overrun in the dying stages. Has won his two starts prior at the track in good style and despite the tricky gate can't be ruled out. CHANCE (14) is racing well and should appreciate stepping up to the mile. Maps well enough and also deserves consideration.
