LAUREL HILL (6) made a long, sustained run to get up in the last few bounds over 7f at Newcastle last start. Has 16 top three finishes from 23 runs at or around this trip so coming back ¾f is not an issue. Has raced well here in the past and can win again. SLUSH FUND (7) made it five podium finishes on the trot when he led but was beaten a lip over 7f at Gundagai recently. At his best over this sort of trip and is well placed to keep the good run going. HYDROMETER (2) boxed on well and wasn't beaten far in a busy finish at Canterbury last time. Perfectly placed up to this journey at the third run back. HEURISTIC (3) hasn't won for 930 days but he is a class above these on best form so don't rule him out. ZULFIQAR (1) is also a quality galloper who can improve on the first-up effort at Canberra.
