Verdict

ALASKAN BAY (1) looks the standout newcomer, by Pariah and from the stakes-winning mare Petite Diablesse. Readied with sharp Port Macquarie trial placing. Draws perfectly and with Roper sticking, the signs all point to a big debut. MARIKO (2) has shown plenty of promise across three trials, finishing off smartly in the latest at Newcastle. Magorrian keeps the ride and from a good alley he looks the clear danger. WHIL TO WIN (6) hasn't fired yet but the blinkers go on and that could be the spark she needs. Expect her to settle closer and give a far stronger showing. KERMALICIOUS (7) let supporters down last time but can bounce back with Stanley aboard. SAMMY THE BULL (3) was poor on debut but is open to improvement second-up.
