Verdict

VELIA (4) returned from a six-month spell for the new stable last start and did a good job to work home into fourth over 6 ½f at this track. Nicely placed over the extra ½f and in a race that doesn't drip with quality she is a genuine winning chance. O CARA MIA (7) is back after a 27-week lay-off. Opened last prep with three minor placings, the best of those runs the barnstorming second when resuming over 7 ½f at Hawkesbury. This looks a lovely race for her, with the long straight a plus. FLYING GREY (3) had her chance but was edged out of the placings in a busy finish on debut at Bathurst recently. Draws a nice gate and can progress from that run. CALL ME SON (2) is back after a nine-month absence. Didn't set the world on fire in the two runs of the maiden prep but has been gelded. Betting might hold the key. MAREBELLO (1) hasn't been sighted since finishing second over the mile here in May. Lightly raced and after a good trial at Bathurst recently looks ready to run.
