NHL Prop Bets
Chris Kreider To Score a Goal (+125)
With a 3.88 implied goal total, the New York Rangers will look to pile up the goals versus the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight.
The Rangers are the hottest team in the league, winners of 10 of their last 11 games, with their one loss coming this past Sunday against these very same Blue Jackets. After a few days off and back on home ice, the Rangers should look to start another winning streak.
Over the last two weeks, the Rangers are scoring 3.12 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 10th-best in the league. Add in the sixth-best (24.9%) power-play on the season and they have a recipe to score early and often.
When it comes to the Blue Jackets' defense, they are bad overall when looking at the entire season, and slightly better over the last two weeks. For the year, they are allowing 2.91 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, and over the last two weeks that sits at 2.75 Goals.
Regardless of a minor improvement, they are still a weak defense overall and worth targeting for some goals.
We'll turn to Chris Kreider, who is on the first forward line and the first power-play, which has allowed him to rack up 29 goals in 59 games this season. He had a solid six shots on goal against the Blue Jackets on Sunday, which he should be able to push for tonight. That puts him in a good spot to score.
Yegor Chinakhov Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+118)
While the Rangers are winning a ton of games, it doesn't mean they are playing perfect hockey.
Over the last two weeks, the Rangers have allowed 78.89 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the most in the league. They are giving up an immense number of shots to opposing offenses, which means we can look there for some value in the prop market.
For the Blue Jackets, they actually come in with the ninth-most (63.74) Total Shot Attempts Created per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations over the last two weeks.
This leads me to Yegor Chinakhov, who skates on the second forward line and the second power-play for Columbus. This has allowed him to hit at least three shots on goal in six of his last 10 games, something he can reach tonight with this matchup.
Zach Hyman Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-108)
The Edmonton Oilers have a slate-high 3.93 implied goal total against the St. Louis Blues, which should feature plenty of offense.
With 201 shots on goal, Zach Hyman leads the Oilers this season. That's right, it's not Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl, it's Hyman with an average of 3.6 shots per game.
This shouldn't be a surprise since the Oilers like to push the pace on offense and lead the NHL with 72.07 Total Shot Attempts Created per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations over the last two weeks. Hyman has 20 shots on goal in just his last five games while seeing time on the first forward line and the first power-play unit.
The Oilers catch the Blues on the second night of a back-to-back, which should allow them to pile up the shots against a defense that's bottom 10 in Shot Attempts allowed per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.
