When building a daily fantasy baseball lineup on FanDuel, nailing the high-salary players is crucial to come out ahead of the pack.

For hitters, we want players with the capacity to put up big numbers, those with favorable matchups, and with a strong supporting cast that can increase their chances for runs and RBI. Looking at pitchers, strikeouts are king -- although, inning-eaters and win potential can't be ignored.

The high-salary picks are the backbone of your lineups, so we don't want to mess around. Let's take a look at some of the top high-salary players for today's main slate on FanDuel, which begins at 7:05 p.m. EST.

Mookie Betts, OF/2B/SS, Los Angeles Dodgers ($4,500)

Multi-positional superstar Mookie Betts kicks off the top high-salary players for today's slate.

Betts is Tuesday's top-ranked batter, according to numberFire projections -- edging out the next-closest player by nearly three points. numberFire has Betts at a whopping 18.9 FanDuel points.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, as a whole, make for strong plays considering they own the highest implied team total of the slate (7.48 runs) against the Colorado Rockies.

In addition to the Coors' Field effect, the Rockies are starting righty Connor Seabold. Betts has a weighted on-base average (wOBA) of .356 against righties and could thrive against Seabold, the owner of a 4.95 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA).

Considering he's only the third-highest salaried player of the slate, Mookie is a no-brainer tonight given his lofty projection and positional flexibility.

Jose Ramirez, 3B, Cleveland Guardians ($3,900)

While the 27th-ranked Cleveland Guardians' offense isn't typically a place we turn to for offensive fireworks, Jose Ramirez is often an exception to that rule. That holds true tonight with numberFire projecting Ramirez for the fourth-most (14.1) FanDuel points.

If there was ever a time to back the Guardians' offense, it's now. Cleveland has the third-highest implied team total of the slate and has a tantalizing matchup with Kansas City Royals righty Brady Singer.

Singer might as well be throwing batting practice out there with his ugly 4.61 SIERA and .290 expected batting average allowed. Few pitchers have allowed as much hard contact as Singer has given his 1st percentile marks in average exit velocity and hard-hit rate.

Meanwhile, Ramirez has obliterated right-handed pitching this season. He owns an elite .402 wOBA against righties while his 8.3% strikeout rate against them is also jaw-dropping.

J-Ram may be the safest player of the slate, and his combination of a high floor and elite ceiling makes him an essential part of any DFS lineup tonight.

J.D. Martinez, OF, Los Angeles Dodgers ($3,800)

We're sticking with the Dodgers and their 7.48 implied team total for the final DFS stud tonight.

Veteran J.D. Martinez makes for a strong selection given his affinity for Coors' Field and his projection of 15.1 FanDuel points, per numberFire.

The 35-year-old has had a resurgent season in LA despite some recent struggles. While his .692 OPS this month is an eyesore, Martinez was due for some regression following a scorching-hot May. Martinez has turned back the clock this season, with his expected wOBA (.381) and Statcast hard-hit rate (51.9%) at their highest levels since 2019.

Martinez has been much better against righties (.369 wOBA) compared to lefties (.319 wOBA). His 33.7% strikeout rate is a concern, but Connor Seabold's 13th-percentile strikeout rate isn't scaring anyone.

The biggest pro for Martinez tonight, however, is Coors. Across 11 games and 51 career plate appearances at Coors, J.D. has collected 21 hits, 3 home runs, and 13 RBI. With the spring back in his step, Martinez should continue that trend tonight, and he makes for a strong DFS play.
