In daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel, rostering the right high-salaried studs is an important aspect of building lineups.

For hitters, we're looking for guys with big numbers, strong matchups, and players around them who are likely to produce, as well, increasing our chances for runs and RBI. For pitchers, we want big strikeout numbers, while the ability to go deep in a game and pick up a win is also valuable.

With these high-salary picks playing such a big role in your lineup, you can't afford to miss on these guys, so let's take a look at a few top high-salary plays for today's main slate.

All advanced statistics via FanGraphs.

Zack Wheeler, P, Philadelphia Phillies ($10,600)

When you're looking at starters for your DFS lineups, Zack Wheeler deserves plenty of your consideration.

The Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher is having another top-tier year for his team, taking the bump every fifth day and making things happen. The righty has a 3.47 SIERA on the season which is higher than the last two seasons but still among the best in baseball, ranking 9th. Wheeler also has a 2.88 FIP and 27.1% strikeout rate -- both are second-best in their respective categories in his career. These numbers should only keep their respective pace with the ideal matchup of the day against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Pirates have been better than expected this season (45-57 record) but they're still among the league's worst offenses in terms of overall production. While they only slot in the middle of the majors with their 23.4% strikeout rate (14th), they're at the bottom everywhere else. Pittsburgh's .306 wOBA ranks 25th and their 97 home runs ranks 24th -- not numbers that necessarily strike fear into pitchers by any means.

There are other big-name starters on the docket today worth considering but Wheeler has the matchup with the most excitement for those huge points.

numberFire's model has Wheeler projected for the second most points on the day out of all pitchers at 39.0 FanDuel points.

Shohei Ohtani, OF, Los Angeles Angels ($4,400)

At this point, how do you keep Shohei Ohtani out of your lineup?

I don't know if there will ever be a time the two-way superstar stops making history but we are coming off a day where he pitched a complete game shutout in the first game of a doubleheader before hitting his 37th and 38th home runs in the second game because of course we are.

Every day is another crazy accomplishment for Ohtani and having him do it in your DFS lineup sounds like a pretty good deal.

Ohtani has been otherworldly again this year as he leads the circuit with 37 home runs, .675 slugging, .438 wOBA, and a 183 wRC+. Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. But it's expected by Ohtani at this stage. The two-way player also has a .377 ISO that not only leads the league but is .065 higher than second place Matt Olson.

The matchup against Toronto Blue Jays hurler Kevin Gausman is by no means an easy one but we aren't sitting Ohtani any time soon. He's been in a league of his own as you can tell by his many league-leading stats.

Ohtani is projected for 13.9 FanDuel points per numberFire.

Mookie Betts, OF/2B/SS, Los Angeles Dodgers ($4,300)

That Mookie Betts guy is a really good baseball player.

Not only is he able to play top defense in the outfield and the middle infield these days, but the 2018 AL MVP happens to swing a nice bat still too. This season has arguably been his best offensive output since the MVP year as you look past his impressive 27 home runs and 68 RBIs to see the .396 wOBA -- his highest since 2018. He's hitting flyballs at a higher rate than anyone ever before at a 49.8% rate to go with a 41.6% hard-hit rate as well.

It's all coming together for Betts which won't be changing up against Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Brandon Williamson.

The rookie pitcher has had a tough first season in the majors as he's wearing a 5.07 SIERA and only striking out opponents at a 18.8% rate. The 5.16 FIP and 5.57 expected ERA (xERA) should only further the idea that this is a matchup that you should not only take advantage of with Betts but the entire Dodgers lineup in a stack scenario.

Los Angeles has the best implied total on the day according to numberFire's heat map at 5.66, so get as many Dodgers as you can into your lineup.

Betts is the top projected hitter on today's slate as numberFire has projected the outfielder for 17.2 FanDuel points. Start'em up.
